Q. Why 19"?
A. Research undertaken by SMPTE reveals ideal viewing distances for screen size. It shows that most viewers feel comfortable sitting away from a widescreen HD picture or upscaled standard picture that's between 1.5 and 5 times the width of the screen. Any nearer and you will start to experience a loss of quality, whilst any further away you will start to loose the immersing experience. Since viewers of bathroom televisions are likely to be either sitting right in the bath or standing around the bath area, the typical viewing distance is going to be from 2 feet to 8 feet. This makes a 19" widescreen size the obvious choice. We know our customers do not like the size of a bathroom TV fixture to be physically intrusive, for example spoiling the back drop of quality tiling. So we went back to the drawing board and designed the current screen with an incredible ultra slim frame and no wasteful border area. It results in a physical size of just 49CM by 34CM whilst retaining a 19" widescreen area. This gives a smaller fixture than what has previously gone before, and amazingly it is physically comparable or smaller than other 17" and even 15" bathroom tvs available.
Q. Why is Envirovision so easy to fit?
A.
Envirovisions registered design (000774864-0001) fits flush against the finished wall surface, screwing straight into a plaster or tiled surface. Since the tv is a one piece design it fits as a complete unit and does not need any supporting wood work or back packing which to fix a back box or brackets to. This eliminates a great deal of work involved, because no supporting material, back box and brackets need be positioned and built up first. The result is typically like the best flush fitting contemporary wall mounted shower taps available.
Q. What is a Mirror Vision Screen?
A.We offer the option of a reflective screen so that when the TV is off, it looks like a mirror, but becomes a TV when switched on. A stunning and popular option but remember mirror television screens are essentially two way mirrors. The inherent aspect of all mirror tvs, is that they will reflect ambient light on dark scenes and if the ambient light is particularly high or above the particular scene on the television, ambient light can be reflected. The ideal is for no ambient light to be reflected which is why our standard screens have anti reflective filters. The following video link highlights this effect. In order to minimize the effect, we have reduced reflectivity slightly and we would recommend the television is not fixed in a bright area such as to adjacent a window.
Q. What is dynamic contrast?
A. Since we designed our TV to display HD 720p/1080i pictures, we chose a state of the art ultra high resolution / brightness and contrast TFT LCD screen from the worlds third largest LCD manufacturer CMO. LCD technology uses an efficient integral back light, this remains constantly on. The screen modulates this light source by switching thousands of pixels in front of the source to produce the picture. The LCD screens pixels have to mask this light source and there is always some light leakage through the switched off or masked pixel. This means that the best LCD screens can only achieve a contrast ratio between the brightest picture and darkest picture transitions of around 1000:1 at a compromised brightness. Envirovision utilizes a technology which senses these transitions and constantly modulates the back light to suit. This achieves contrast ratios far higher (3000:1).
Q. What is HD and what does HD Ready mean?
A. HD is the acronym for high definition. Our televisions have a high definition screen ready to display HD images. The HD images may be sourced directly in digital form via its HDMI input or analogue via its component inputs in either standard 720p or 1080i. Typically these sources would be derived from a HD satellite source or HD DVD player. When the tv receives non HD signals, for example from the integral digital tuner, scart or s-video inputs, then envirovisions video processing circuitry automatically upscale's these images and de interlaces them using line doubling techniques to display them on the high definition screen with incredible clarity.
Q. What options can I choose?
A. Integral or external speakers, anti reflective screen or reflective TV mirror screen (when tv is off, the screen is reflective similar to a mirror). Stainless steel bezel finish including mirror polished, brush polished, Gold or Black. All systems remote to control other AV equipment connected, but located in another room and RS232 control for professional home automation.
Q. What warranty do I get with the Envirovision and how reliable can I expect it to be?
A. Extremely reliable. This is why every 19" Envirovision is sold with a brand leading 2 year warranty. Moreover, the LCD module and its back light that we use, is specified for 60000 hours to half life which means 24/7 continuous viewing of several years......in the bath !!?? but we're not guaranteeing that that might be good for you!
Q. Can I connect envirovision to a sky box?
A. Yes, it may be connected via the RF input or directly via the scart or HDMI connection for true high definition viewing. Channel changing may be performed by the Envirovision optional Sky Magic Eye sensor. The Sky magic eye or all systems remote will allow you to control the sky box via the sky remote, regardless of the sky box being situated in another room.
Q. Why should I choose Envirovision over other brands?
A. Installers tell us its the easiest and fastest to install compared to all other brands they have previously worked with, whilst our end users are telling us how they love the appearance as it enhances a well finished bathroom and complements other quality fixtures. These facts are no accident though as this is how envirovision is built. For example, the bezel is laser cut from mirror polished 316 stainless steel, which actually forms part of the chassis. Integrated is the latest technology and features as standard, not least the DVB Tuner, freeview TV channels, DAB radio channels, HD ready screen and dynamic contrast of 3000:1. Q. Does envirovision receive radio stations?

Q. What is the difference between your heated screen and other brands of bathroom television?
A. Envirovision incorporates the latest high definition LCD panel which is fixed via a waterproof polymer filter directly to a stainless steel bezel. As a result, there's no need for heat to radiate from the panel through an air gap to a separate front glass screen. The result is that it warms twice as fast.
Q. I've heard lots about Freeview or Digital TV but what is it?
A. Television technology has changed. Original format films allow television screens to display in wide aspect. In order for television broadcasters to make use of the superior technology, programs are broadcast in digital in a wide aspect. You still receive these broadcasts in the same traditional manner i.e. via your current Tv aerial. However, unlike old analogue broadcasts, these transmissions are broadcast in the new wide format and are superior in picture and sound quality, and less susceptible to interference. In addition, more channels are transmitted over a frequency range leading to availability of many more channels. Since the digital system has proven its self reliable and superior during a long trial period in many countries, there is no point sustaining old analogue systems so this is now being phased out.
Q. Can I install envirovision into a solid wall?
A. Yes, you will need to cut a space into the wall to the specified size and after plastering or tiling should have a typical depth of 65mm from the front surface of the finished wall. Chase the wiring in to suit.
Q. I would like to purchase an Envirovision, but do not live in the UK. Is this possible?
A. Yes, envirovision is supplied with a world standard multi voltage/frequency power supply and we can supply envirovision with tuners and inputs to suit any country in the world including all formats of PAL, SECAM and NTSC formats, please ask.
